    PTUK and Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company Sign Joint Academic and Technical Cooperation Agreement

    Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening academic, research, and technical cooperation between the two institutions. The agreement was signed by the University President, Prof. Hussein Shanak, and on behalf of the company by Chairman of the Board Dr. Imad Breik.

    The memorandum seeks to enhance integration between academic education and practical application, support applied scientific research, develop the capabilities of students and researchers, and align educational outcomes with the needs of the Palestinian electricity and energy sector and the labor market. It also aims to expand opportunities for field training, exchange expertise, and implement joint scientific and technical activities.

    The signing ceremony was attended by the University Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Rizq Astaitiyeh, the company’s General Manager Eng. Nishat Abu Baker, university assistants, a number of academic and administrative staff members and lecturers, in addition to representatives and staff from the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company.

    Prof. Hussein Shanak emphasized that the memorandum comes within the framework of the university’s vision to build effective strategic partnerships with leading national institutions, contributing to the development of the educational and research environment and enhancing students’ readiness for the labor market.

    Prof. Shanak highlighted PTUK’s commitment to providing modern applied education that keeps pace with rapid technological advancements, offering students real opportunities to engage with practical expertise and advanced technologies, particularly in vital sectors related to energy and technology.

    He noted that cooperation with the Palestinian Electricity Transmission Company represents an important step toward strengthening applied scientific research, developing the skills of students and researchers, and opening new horizons for professional and academic training and development.

    For his part, Chairman of the Board Dr. Imad Breik stressed the importance of partnerships with Palestinian academic institutions and their role in preparing national competencies capable of keeping pace with technological developments in the energy sector.

    Dr. Breik stated: “We believe in the importance of integration between the academic and applied sectors, and through this memorandum we seek to support students and researchers and enhance their applied knowledge in ways that contribute to the development of the electricity and energy sector in Palestine.”

    He added that the agreement will contribute to expanding practical training opportunities, exchanging technical and scientific expertise, and encouraging innovation and scientific research in the fields of electrical power systems and transmission and distribution networks.

    The memorandum also includes the provision of 25 free licenses for the DigSilent Power Factory software for non-commercial academic, research, and training purposes, enabling university students and researchers to benefit from one of the latest specialized software systems in electrical power engineering.

    In addition, the agreement covers cooperation in organizing field visits to the company’s facilities, implementing specialized training programs, supporting graduation projects and applied studies, and organizing conferences, workshops, and scientific events related to energy, electricity, and technological transformation.
