    PTUK Participates in University Governance Workshop within SHIFT-MED Project

    Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie participated virtually in the “Governance for Dual Transition in Universities” workshop, held within the framework of the project “Shaping the Future of Universities: Dual Transitions across the Mediterranean” (SHIFT-MED), funded by the Erasmus+ Program.

    The university was represented by Dr. Mutamid Al-Khatib, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Rana Samara, Project Director at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and President Assistant for International Academic Cooperation; Prof. Nawaf Abu Khalaf, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering; Dr. Mahmoud Ismail, Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Yamen Hamdan, Head of the Agricultural Biotechnology Department; Dr. Mahmoud Rahhal; Dr. Yahya Istaiteyeh; Dr. Basel Al-Natsheh from the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering; Dr. Ahmad Ammar from the Faculty of Arts; Mr. Raed Zaidan as the administrative representative; and Ms. Alaa Alyan, Director of Planning, Studies, and Projects.

    The project also includes the participation of An-Najah National University, the University of Kairouan, the University of Jendouba, Excellence Company from Tunisia, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, the Greater Middle East Foundation for Health and Education from Türkiye, and the University of Naples Parthenope.

    The workshop sessions focused on sustainable leadership, institutional governance, and resource management, in addition to reviewing sustainable business models, internationalization strategies, and global competitiveness in higher education. Discussions also addressed effective leadership, change management for sustainability initiatives, diversity management, inclusive leadership, and cultural competence in academic institutions.

    Dr. Mutamid Al-Khatib emphasized that the university’s participation in the project aligns with its vision to strengthen governance, sustainability, and digital transformation concepts in higher education. He highlighted the importance of building international academic partnerships that contribute to developing the university environment and enhancing institutional readiness to keep pace with global changes.

    The sessions also addressed the role of higher education institutions in achieving sustainable development, strategic planning, and leadership in sustainability and institutional governance, contributing to the development of more resilient and future-oriented universities.

    Participants stressed the importance of strategic resource management and institutional leadership in supporting green and digital transformation in universities, while the program provided an interactive platform for discussion and collaborative learning among partners from across the Mediterranean region.
