PTUK Launches 4th Cohort of Kindergarten Teacher Qualification Diploma

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK), in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has launched the fourth cohort of the Kindergarten Teacher Qualification Diploma Program as part of the Early Childhood Development Project.

The initiative supports the implementation of the Palestinian Education Sector Strategic Plan and aims to enhance the quality of early childhood education across Palestine.

The program seeks to ensure quality education for Palestinian children by strengthening pre-primary education and providing comprehensive school readiness opportunities that enable children in kindergarten to transition smoothly into primary education.

Prof. Hussein Shanak, President of PTUK, noted that the University's implementation of the program aligns with its mission to prepare qualified and competitive professionals capable of meeting the needs of society and contributing to national development.

Dr. Ahmad Ammar, Director of the Kindergarten Teacher Qualification Diploma Program, explained that the fourth cohort includes candidates nominated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education from the directorates of Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Tubas, Nablus, Jenin, Qabatiya, Salfit, and South Nablus.

Participants were selected according to established eligibility criteria and are undertaking the program through a collaborative framework involving the University, the Ministry, and local kindergartens as part of the National Early Childhood Development Strategy.

Dr. Ammar added that the professional diploma is a comprehensive one-year professional development program designed for kindergarten teachers working in the private sector who have not previously received formal training in early childhood education.

The curriculum includes specialized modules on child-centered learning approaches, early literacy and numeracy, play-based learning, psychosocial support, and strategies for working with children in fragile and conflict-affected environments.

He further noted that the program is delivered by a distinguished team of academics and educational experts with strong teaching and research backgrounds, utilizing advanced technologies and modern training methodologies to maximize learning outcomes and professional impact.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has established quality standards for kindergarten and preparatory classes, covering infrastructure, learning environments, and curricula. These standards underscore the importance of strengthening teachers’ instructional practices and enhancing their ability to foster meaningful and effective engagement with young learners.
