     Conference Recommendations

    • Engage the private sector in projects aimed at developing and improving water and agricultural resources.
    • Clearly define the roles, responsibilities, authorities, and legislation governing the water sector, ensuring specialization within an integrated and comprehensive framework.
    • Place greater emphasis on climate change factors that directly or indirectly affect water resources and agriculture. These changes should be continuously monitored, and relevant plans and policies should be incorporated into planning processes based on climate projections and forecasts.
    • Expand the use of treated wastewater for agricultural purposes, provided that it complies with the requirements of the 2012 Palestinian Standards for the Use of Treated Wastewater in Agriculture. The role of monitoring and inspection of treated wastewater projects should also be strengthened.
    • Expand water-harvesting projects, particularly the construction of dams and the adoption of various rainwater collection technologies for agricultural use. Complementary irrigation techniques using treated wastewater should also be introduced.
    • Promote the wider adoption of modern irrigation technologies that reduce water consumption, alongside agricultural practices that maximize crop productivity per unit of water used.
    • Strengthen monitoring and control of industrial and agricultural pollutants in all their forms, particularly those that adversely affect water quality and agricultural crops.
