PTUK and Qatari Committee Sign MoU to Support Jerusalemite Students

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie has signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Permanent Qatari Committee for Supporting Jerusalem. The agreement aims to assist Jerusalemite students studying at the university by providing financial aid to cover a portion of their accumulated tuition fees, with a total value of $30,000 USD. The signing ceremony was attended by the university's Ramallah branch director, Prof. Jultan Hijazi.
The agreement seeks to alleviate the economic burdens faced by Jerusalemite students and support them in continuing their higher education amidst the exceptional challenges they face due to occupation practices, including repeated arrests, house detentions, and systematic restrictive policies.
In this context, the Dean of Student Affairs at the university, Dr. Yahya Estiteh, emphasized that “this agreement reflects the university's commitment to providing the necessary support and care for its Jerusalemite students. It is a significant step towards strengthening their academic and social resilience while easing the financial pressures that hinder their educational journey.” He also pointed out that a specialized university committee will evaluate cases and select beneficiaries based on precise and equitable criteria.
On his part, Maj. Gen. Bilal Al-Natsheh, Secretary-General of the Permanent Qatari Committee for Supporting Jerusalem, praised this partnership with Kadoorie University. He stated, “Supporting Jerusalemite students is an investment in the future of Jerusalem and its Palestinian identity. The committee remains committed to providing all necessary support to enhance the resilience of Jerusalemites across various sectors, particularly in education.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the university will establish a dedicated account for the grant and prepare detailed financial reports on the disbursement processes. It will also provide lists of the beneficiary students and the selection mechanisms to ensure transparency and efficiency in implementing the program.
This initiative aligns with the university’s national vision and mission to support students in need, fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment that enables all students to complete their studies with dignity and stability.
