PTUK Participates in 10th National Forum for Palestinian Innovation

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK, led by its President Prof. Hussein Shanak, participated in the 10th National Forum for Palestinian Innovation, held under the theme “From Palestine to the World – Toward a Cross-Border Innovation Ecosystem.” The event was organized by the Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence under the patronage of H.E. President Mahmoud Abbas, reflecting PTUK’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship and reinforcing its presence in national and scientific arenas.

President Mahmoud Abbas inaugurated the forum at the National Library in Surda, north of Ramallah, emphasizing in his opening address that creativity and excellence have always been defining characteristics of the Palestinian people since the launch of their national revolution in 1965. He stressed that the roots of Palestinian innovation run deep in the national consciousness despite ongoing challenges. Following his address, the President toured the National Innovation Exhibition, which featured over 127 booths representing Palestinian universities, startups, student projects, and innovation-supporting institutions.

In his remarks, Prof. Hussein Shanak explained that PTUK’s participation in the forum stems from its mission to institutionalize creativity as a national and human value. He noted that the University believes innovation is not a singular event but a continuous practice reflected daily in classrooms, laboratories, and entrepreneurial projects nurtured by its students and academic staff.

He added that Palestinian innovation is inherently an act of resistance, blending willpower with knowledge to lay the foundation for national independence based on scientific and technological production. Prof. Shanak reaffirmed the University’s dedication to remaining open to all national initiatives that link higher education with sustainable development and strengthen Palestine’s presence in the global scientific and research landscape.

Prof. Shanak concluded by emphasizing that PTUK will continue to support every national effort that nurtures innovators and entrepreneurs, asserting that investing in Palestinian minds is the surest path toward a prosperous homeland worthy of the sacrifices of its people.

During the forum, additional addresses were delivered by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Abd Al-Razzaq Al-Natsheh, Mahmoud Darwish Foundation Director Fathi Al-Bass on behalf of National Library Director Prof. Marwan Awartani, Chair of the Forum’s Preparatory Committee Dr. Basri Saleh, Chairman of the Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence and Presidential Advisor for Innovation Affairs Eng. Adnan Samara, and Director of the Arab Bank – Palestine Region Mr. Jamal Hourani, along with members of the Council’s Board representing the Gaza Strip.
