Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie achieved a significant advancement in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for sustainability 2025, rising to second place nationally in Palestine and 312th globally among thousands of participating universities, compared with its 440th global position last year.
This progress reflects the university’s continuous development in environmental infrastructure and its practical application of sustainability standards across campus.
The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Hussein Shanak, stated that this achievement represents an international recognition of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance environmental performance and campus services.
He explained that Kadoorie’s leading national position in this global ranking demonstrates its ability to translate strategic planning into measurable results, while working as a unified team towards a more sustainable and future-ready university.
He added that this achievement directly reflects the university’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility, and the dedicated efforts of its academic, technical, and administrative staff, particularly the rankings committee, in improving infrastructure and environmental efficiency standards.
The Assistant to the President for University Rankings, Prof. Saed Mallak, explained that this progress is the result of an integrated strategy implemented over the past year, focusing on strengthening sustainability indicators within the campus, improving energy, water, and waste management, and expanding green spaces.
He affirmed that Kadoorie’s rise from 440th to 312th globally confirms that the university is moving in the right direction and that its environmental policies are producing tangible impact.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is considered one of the most prominent international ranking systems specializing in evaluating universities based on sustainability, environmental standards, and resource efficiency. Universities from around the world participate in this ranking annually.
