President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK Prof. Hussein Shanak and the Secretary of the University’s Board of Trustees, Eng. Isam Qasem met with Mr. Akram Jarab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Quds Bank, at the bank’s regional headquarters in Ramallah, in the presence of Mr. Khairy Jarab, to discuss ways to enhance and deepen cooperation between the two institutions.
During the meeting, Prof. Shanak emphasized the vital role played by private-sector banking institutions, including Bank of Jerusalem, in strengthening the Palestinian national economy. He highlighted their importance as key supporters of higher education in Palestine and their contribution to empowering youth across multiple domains, particularly through employment opportunities and support for universities, their academic programs, strategic plans, and diverse activities across various sectors.
Prof. Shanak and Eng. Qasem briefed the Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors on the university’s ongoing development efforts, the challenges it faces, and its strategic plans, in addition to its progress toward internationalization.
They reviewed PTUK’s recent qualitative achievements, especially its entry into new global university rankings, attainment of advanced positions, and its distinguished participation in international competitions, conferences, and academic forums.
Prof. Shanak further outlined PTUK’s role, as a national public university, in providing high-quality education to outstanding students across Palestine through its main campus in Tulkarm and its branches in Ramallah and Al-Arroub. He stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership with Bank of Jerusalem and expanding prospects for future joint initiatives and developmental cooperation.
For his part, Mr. Akram Jarab noted that the banking sector plays a central role in supporting development sectors in Palestine, foremost among them education and higher education, given their direct impact on human development and societal resilience. He reaffirmed Bank of Jerusalem’s commitment to supporting initiatives and programs that serve students and educational institutions.
Mr. Jarab also commended the pioneering role of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and the significant progress it has achieved in academic programs and institutional development, as well as its advanced accomplishments that reflect its national vision and steady path toward excellence.
Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining ongoing communication to further strengthen cooperation and partnership in support of higher education and national development.
