The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, together with the Steering Committee of the National Mathematics Olympiad, honored Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, represented by its President, Prof. Hussein Shanak, in recognition of the University’s distinguished role in supporting, sponsoring, and ensuring the success of the National Mathematics Olympiad.
The honor was bestowed in appreciation of PTUK’s hosting of the second stage of the Olympiad competitions at its main campus in Tulkarm and its branches in Ramallah and Arroub, as well as providing all necessary logistical and administrative requirements that ensured the smooth and efficient conduct of the events.
The recognition took place on the sidelines of the announcement and honoring of the Olympiad’s winning students and those qualifying for Arab and international competitions.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Amjad Barham, the President of the Palestinian Academy for Science and Technology, Prof. Marwan Awartani, and the Director General of Taawon, Dr. Tareq Amtaira.
In his remarks, Minister Barham commended the efforts of the host universities, foremost among them PTUK, affirming that such cooperation reflects the spirit of national partnership in supporting outstanding students and preparing them to represent Palestine in Arab and international forums.
For his part, Prof. Hussein Shanak expressed his appreciation for this recognition by the Ministry and the Olympiad’s Steering Committee, considering it an acknowledgment of the University’s efforts and national mission.
He noted that hosting the National Mathematics Olympiad falls within the University’s duty toward its community and national educational causes, highlighting PTUK’s longstanding commitment to sponsoring, hosting, and organizing Olympiad activities, as well as offering incentive scholarships to winning students in support of their academic excellence and scientific advancement.
