PTUK, Tamkeen, and Raya Sign MoU to Implement “Media Pathways” Project and Enhance Students’ Employability

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK), represented by its President Prof. Hussein Shanak, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in partnership with the Economic and Social Empowerment Association (Tamkeen), represented by its Executive Director Ms. Sahar Othman, and Raya Media and Publishing Company, represented by its CEO Ms. Hiba Al-Wazni, within the framework of implementing the “Media Pathways” project.

The project aims to develop practical and applied media skills, enhance students’ and graduates’ readiness for the labor market, and support women’s participation in the media and creative industries sectors.

This partnership focuses on delivering specialized training and applied components in media and digital communication. It includes developing participants’ practical skills, providing paid internship opportunities, and supporting and incubating youth-led media initiatives, thereby strengthening employment prospects and aligning academic outcomes with labor market needs.

Prof. Hussein Shanak welcomed the partnership, expressing appreciation for the program’s organizers and its previous successful training phases involving PTUK students. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with the university’s vision of integrating academic and practical learning, particularly in media disciplines experiencing rapid transformation. He noted that investing in students’ practical training has become essential in light of evolving labor market demands, and that the university continues to adapt its programs through strategic partnerships that expand opportunities for experiential learning and professional engagement.

He further highlighted that the media sector is a vital component of the creative industries and requires highly skilled professionals with advanced technical and professional competencies. PTUK seeks to address this by engaging students in real training environments and strengthening their capabilities in digital media production, content creation, and effective communication.

Ms. Sahar Othman emphasized the strong partnership with PTUK, noting the importance of such collaborations in implementing impactful projects that respond to youth needs and enhance their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. She praised the university’s openness to partnerships that serve students and improve higher education outcomes.

Ms. Hiba Al-Wazni stated that the partnership will provide students and recent graduates with paid internship opportunities and advanced media skills, facilitating their integration into the labor market. She emphasized the growing demand for young professionals with practical expertise in the rapidly evolving media sector, and commended PTUK students for their excellence, commitment, and ability to benefit from such high-quality opportunities—particularly those that promote greater inclusion of women in media and creative industries.

The signing ceremony was attended on behalf of the university by Dr. Rima Draghmeh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences; Dr. Rana Samara, Assistant President for International Academic Cooperation; and Dr. Alaa Issa, Dean of Student Affairs. Representatives from the partner institutions included Mr. Yousef Al-Hajj Qasem, Northern Region Director; Mr. Jawan Safran, Project Manager; and Ms. Dima Shahrour, Administrative Officer.

The “Media Pathways” project is implemented by Tamkeen in partnership with Raya Media Network, in cooperation with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and funded by the European Union under the initiative to promote the economic and social inclusion of women in the culture and creative sectors.
