During the meeting, Prof. Shanak emphasized that PTUK, as the oldest public higher education institution in Palestine, possesses a rich academic and historical legacy that deserves greater visibility across digital platforms. He highlighted the importance of documenting the University’s history, achievements, and academic programs, as well as showcasing its advancements in doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and diploma programs.

Prof. Shanak welcomed the prospect of cooperation with Wiki Palestine, expressing the University's readiness to host exhibitions and training workshops and to explore the necessary steps toward signing a memorandum of understanding. Such collaboration would support the implementation of joint programs aimed at equipping students with Wikipedia editing skills and enabling them to contribute to the development of reliable Palestinian content.

For his part, Raed Fares, Executive Director of Wiki Palestine Association, presented the Association’s mission of documenting and promoting the Palestinian narrative through Wikipedia. He explained that the Association works with universities and Palestinian institutions to train students in content creation, editing, and knowledge verification. Fares noted that Arabic Wikipedia attracts hundreds of millions of monthly visits, making it a highly influential platform that offers significant opportunities for Palestinian academic institutions to enrich its content.

The meeting also featured discussions on the importance of strengthening Palestine’s digital presence in light of the challenges facing the Palestinian narrative. Participants stressed that investment in reliable digital knowledge represents one of the most effective means of preserving national identity. Both parties agreed to continue coordination on the development of joint training programs and to explore the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University and the Association.
