Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie (PTUK) concluded its participation in the “Developing Scout Media” training course organized by the Palestinian Scout Association in Jericho. The course was attended by General Jebreel Rjoub, Dr. Rima Daraghmeh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences and President of the Palestinian Association of Scout and Guide Pioneers, and 45 participants from Scout Commissioners’ offices. Most participants attended in person at the Youth City of Hope in Jericho, while participants from the southern governorates and the diaspora joined virtually via Zoom.
In his remarks, General Jebreel Rjoub highlighted the importance of community partnerships, particularly with universities, in advancing Scouting, emphasizing the vital role of media as the public face of scouting activities.
Dr. Rima Daraghmeh welcomed the partnership and reaffirmed the University's readiness to continue working with the Palestinian Scout Association through joint training programs and initiatives that strengthen scout media practices and draw on academic expertise in the field.
During the course, Dr. Alaa Ayyash, Dr. Osama Abdullah, and Mr. Mohammad Omariyeh delivered training sessions and lectures covering photography, media and public opinion, and the use of artificial intelligence in media. The program also addressed mobile content creation, journalistic writing, archiving and documentation, media marketing, on-camera presentation, dialogue, and interviewing. The training further featured contributions from journalists and specialists, including Yousef Al-Shayeb, Muhannad Yassin, Faiha Khenfar, and Scout Leader Zain Al-Askari.
PTUK's participation, represented by the Department of Media Technology, reflects the University's commitment to leveraging its academic expertise in capacity-building programs for youth and scouting organizations. It also reinforces PTUK's role in supporting and empowering national institutions, contributing to their development, and advancing its mission of community service and the promotion of volunteerism.
