Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK achieved second place in both the professional and student categories in the second Palestine Packaging Competition.
This event, held for the second time in Palestine, was organized by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Growth, with the participation of dozens of competitors from various universities, companies, and institutions across Palestine.
The results were announced during a ceremony organized by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Growth and the Palestinian Union of Paper and Packaging Industries at the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park.
The event was attended by the Minister of Industry, Mr. Arafat Asfour; a representative of the Japanese Representative Office to Palestine; the Special Representative of the Director of the United Nations Development Program UNDP / Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People; the President of the Palestinian Union of Paper and Packaging Industries; and Mr. Khalil Abu Olba, representing PTUK, among other notable figures from various institutions and companies.
PTUK’s participation in the competition came through students from the Department of Design and Applied Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences. In the professional category, Ms. Sarah Odeh from the Department of Applied Arts won second place, while student Randa Al-Jallad from the Department of Design and Applied Arts secured second place in the student category.
Additionally, several PTUK students achieved commendable rankings:
• Deema Hussein earned fifth place.
• Rawan Ahmad secured sixth place.
• Haya Farah achieved seventh place.
• Aya Al-Saaydeh placed eighth.
Their innovative and professional designs of packaging boxes showcased exceptional creativity and skill.
Dr. Yahya Esteiteh, Dean of Student Affairs, congratulated the university’s students and their supervising faculty on this achievement, expressing pride in the designs presented and the talents displayed by the students. He also thanked the organizers and supporters of the competition for providing an invaluable platform for Palestinian designers to demonstrate their capabilities.
Dr. Ahmad Ammar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences, also praised the outstanding achievement of the students from the Department of Design and Applied Arts. He commended the faculty members for their efforts in supporting and highlighting the talents of students on both local and international stages.
During the awards ceremony, the Minister of Industry, Mr. Arafat Asfour, emphasized the importance of youth contributions to the packaging and design sector. He highlighted the significance of nurturing exceptional talents and supporting innovative ideas to enhance the packaging of Palestinian products, improving their quality and competitiveness in both local and international markets.
The competition was organized by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Growth PALPRO, with support from the Investment Promotion and Industrial Cities Authority, the UNDP/Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People UNDP/PAPP, and funding from the Government of Japan.
It was held in partnership with the Small Enterprise Center, the Palestinian Union of Paper and Packaging Industries, the Palestinian Packaging Center, and the General Union of Palestinian Industries.
