PTUK Honors Dr. Sameer Jarrad for His Pioneering Role

Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK, in the presence of the University Council, the Staff Union, and the Student Union, honored Dr. Sameer Abdel Fattah Jarrad in recognition of his pioneering role as Advisor to the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and his significant contributions in supporting and funding development projects that have strengthened the university’s progress and national mission.

PTUK President Prof. Hussein Shanak highlighted that this recognition reflects appreciation for Dr. Jarrad’s sincere national efforts, particularly in higher education and other vital sectors that form the foundation of Palestinian society.

He noted that Dr. Jarrad’s advisory role with the Arab Fund enabled the university to implement strategic projects that have transformed its infrastructure and academic programs, creating a comprehensive educational environment that fosters creativity and innovation while offering students broader opportunities for learning and development. These initiatives have reinforced PTUK’s position as a public national university committed to its mission despite ongoing challenges.

Prof. Shanak added that the university had hoped to hold a larger celebratory event for Dr. Jarrad; however, current circumstances limited the ceremony to the University Council, staff representatives, and students, underscoring the exceptional status of Dr. Jarrad for Palestine and all the institutions he has served.

Dr. Jarrad expressed his pride in the recognition, emphasizing that his service to the university and the nation stems from duty and responsibility. He affirmed that PTUK carries a historic name reflecting the civilizational identity of the Palestinian people, who reject sectarianism and confront Zionism through knowledge and action.

He added that he will continue his efforts, in collaboration with Arab and international institutions, to support agricultural, technical, and applied scientific research and to provide further funding for projects that advance higher education in Palestine.

Dr. Jarrad also highlighted that the Arab Fund has consistently prioritized support for the Palestinian cause, dedicating 10% of its resources to education, health, rural development, and other sectors. He noted that all projects implemented in Palestine—nearly 1,998 in number—have been completed successfully according to professional and transparent standards.
