The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK, Prof. Hussein Shanak, accompanied by the Director of the President’s Office, Mr. Mahmoud Kmeil, conducted an official visit to the Yasser Arafat Foundation and Museum in Ramallah.
The visit comes as part of the university’s commitment to enhancing cultural and academic cooperation with national institutions that preserve Palestinian memory and document the history of the national struggle.
During the visit, the PTUK delegation met with Mr. Ahmad Soboh, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, in the presence of the Foundation’s Director General, Mr. Odeh Msharqa; Museum Director, Mr. Mohammad Halaika; Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr. Fares Saqr; and Director of Activities, Ms. Mohar Abu Ein.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Soboh provided a comprehensive overview of the Foundation’s mission to safeguard the Palestinian people’s legacy of struggle and narrate the life and journey of the late leader Yasser Arafat to future generations, as well as to Arab and international audiences.
He highlighted that the museum—considered the “jewel” of the Foundation’s work—houses original exhibits and multimedia displays in eight world languages, in addition to a dedicated Palestinian resources hall and scientific references accessible to researchers and students.
The Foundation also presented the PTUK delegation with a collection of its cultural publications, including the documentary films “A Life to Remember” and “Comrades in the Struggle”, as well as the books “A Life to Remember” and “The Museum Book” in both Arabic and English.
For his part, Prof. Shanak expressed the university’s deep appreciation for the Foundation’s vital role in consolidating Palestinian national identity and strengthening the presence of the cause within cultural and historical awareness.
He emphasized that the Yasser Arafat Museum represents a rich national, cultural, and historical space that deserves to be a regular destination for students and academics.
He further affirmed PTUK’s readiness to develop frameworks for cooperation with the Foundation, including organizing regular student visits to the museum and linking them to educational programs, student activities, and research initiatives.
The visit concluded with a tour of the museum’s halls, where the PTUK delegation explored interactive exhibits documenting the stages of the Palestinian national movement and the life of the late leader Yasser Arafat, including personal belongings, historical documents, and rare photographs.
The tour reaffirmed the museum’s importance as a national center dedicated to preserving the memory of the Palestinian people.
