Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie PTUK today welcomed H.E. Eng. Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, to the university’s campus in Tulkarm. The visit aimed to strengthen mutual cooperation and explore avenues of partnership in areas of shared interest, particularly student training and linking academic programs with the needs of the labor market and the university itself.
The delegation included Eng. Maen Rashid, Director General of Projects at the Energy Authority; Eng. Abdelhadi Barakat, Director General of the Project Management Unit; Eng. Basel Yassin, Technical Advisor to the Chairman; along with Dr. Mutamed Al-Khatib, PTUK Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Rizq Isteiteh, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Dr. Jaafar Al-Masri, Dean of the College of Engineering; and several university administrators from the Engineering Department, Services Department, and the Public Relations and Media Directorate.
During the meeting, Prof. Hussein Shenak, President of PTUK, presented an overview of the university and its academic programs, highlighting engineering and technical disciplines and their role in preparing highly qualified graduates capable of meeting the needs of the energy and infrastructure sectors.
He welcomed the Chairman of the Energy Authority, expressed appreciation for the Authority’s support, and affirmed the university’s readiness to enhance institutional cooperation and sign a memorandum of understanding that would serve both sides, support student training, and promote the implementation of joint applied projects that meet the university’s needs.
For his part, Eng. Ayman Ismail praised PTUK’s programs—particularly in engineering, energy, and computing—stressing that his visit comes within the framework of strengthening the strategic and complementary relationship with the university.
He noted that PTUK is an important national partner in preparing human capital for the energy sector and underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in practical student training and the implementation of projects that support the transition toward sustainable energy.
Meanwhile, Eng. Maen Rashid outlined prospects for enhanced cooperation through solar-energy programs, advisory initiatives, and the implementation of joint applied and commercial projects. He also discussed supporting the university through dedicated grants for higher-education institutions, helping to promote reliance on clean energy sources rather than imported ones.
