The President of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, Prof. Hussein Shanak, today received the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Amjad Barham, during an official visit to the University. The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of Buildings at the Ministry, Eng. Wissam Nakhla.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Northern Hebron Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Mahmoud Allan; Member of the University’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Rafiq Abu Manshar; the Hebron Governorate representative, Mr. Mousa Haroun; Director of the Arroub Branch, Prof. Dr. Tahseen Siyarah; in addition to the University’s academic and administrative staff.
The visit aimed at reviewing the current situation of the University’s Arroub Branch, identifying the challenges it faces, and discussing development and expansion plans intended to advance its academic and national role.
During the meeting, discussions focused on supporting public and technical higher education, strengthening the resilience of educational institutions in threatened areas—particularly in northern Hebron—and providing the necessary support to enable the University and its staff to continue delivering high-quality educational services to Palestinian students.
Prof. Hussein Shanakpraised the significant efforts made by the Minister and the Ministry’s staff to advance higher education, especially public universities. He commended the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, noting that it represents a key pillar in sustaining the University’s national and academic mission despite existing challenges.
He further affirmed the University’s commitment to continuing its efforts to enhance public, technical, and technological higher education in Palestine, strengthen its international standing, and raise the name of Palestine through its branches across the north, center, and south of the country, ensuring access to education for all and attracting outstanding students.
For his part, Minister Prof. Amjad Barham emphasized the Ministry’s deep belief in its mission and its steadfast commitment to supporting higher education institutions in Palestine despite the difficult circumstances, particularly in threatened areas. He stressed the Ministry’s dedication to consolidating the Palestinian national presence in these regions, affirming that all possible resources will be mobilized to enable PTUK to fulfill its mission and continue to grow and develop.
The Minister and the accompanying delegation also conducted a field tour of the Arroub Branch facilities, during which they reviewed its academic and infrastructure needs, as well as existing development and expansion challenges, with the aim of enhancing the Branch’s capacity to expand its services and strengthen its academic and national role.
