The Board of Trustees of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie convened its fourth meeting today, chaired by Eng. Malek Melhem, Chairman of the Board, with the attendance of board members, Tulkarm Governor Dr. Abdullah Kmeil, and the University President, Prof. Hussein Shanak—underscoring the strong partnership between the University and its national and institutional environment.
At the outset, the Chairman welcomed participants, commending their continued commitment to supporting the University’s progress. He emphasized that the upcoming phase requires a transition from planning to execution, grounded in a clear vision and measurable objectives. He further highlighted the importance of teamwork and institutional alignment between the Board and the University administration to achieve a qualitative leap in performance.
Eng. Melhem noted that the University possesses strong academic and human capacities that position it for leadership, calling for focused efforts on advancing academic programs, enhancing التعليم quality, and strengthening research in alignment with development priorities and labor market needs. He added that the coming period will witness strategic decisions aimed at consolidating the University’s standing both locally and internationally.
The session opened with a moment of silence in tribute to the late poet and national figure Abdel Nasser Saleh, former member of the Board of Trustees, in recognition of his national and cultural contributions and his role in supporting the University.
For his part, Governor Dr. Abdullah Kmeil expressed his appreciation for participating in the meeting, affirming his strong relationship with the University’s leadership and Board, and commending the institution’s notable progress across multiple domains. He reiterated the Governorate’s readiness to provide continued support, recognizing the University’s vital national and developmental role as a cornerstone of Palestinian identity and a key contributor to human capital development.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions on several strategic priorities, focusing on advancing the University’s performance across academic, administrative, and research domains in line with its mission and vision.
The Board reaffirmed the importance of enhancing education quality, supporting scientific research, strengthening institutional capacity, and expanding strategic partnerships to achieve sustainable institutional advancement.
In closing, the Board emphasized that the next phase will be defined by tangible implementation and measurable outcomes, translating strategic vision into concrete achievements that further position the University as a leading national and international academic institution.
