PTUK Holds Third Workshop on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

The Graduate Studies College at Palestine Technical University–Kadoorie PTUK, in coordination with the College of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, held the third applied workshop in its training series designed for master's and PhD students as well as researchers. The event, held under the patronage of University President Prof. Hussein Shanak, was titled “Using Artificial Intelligence Tools in Scientific Research.”

The workshop brought together over ninety professors, researchers, and students from universities across the Arab region, reflecting growing interest in enhancing research skills amid rapid digital transformation.

Dr. Samer Arqawi, Dean of the Graduate Studies College and workshop facilitator, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of AI in advancing research systems and strengthening researchers’ analytical abilities. He also encouraged the ethical and responsible use of AI in data analysis and knowledge generation.

Dr. Nash’at Jallad, Dean of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, praised the collaboration between the two colleges in organizing high-quality scientific workshops that support postgraduate studies and keep pace with global technological trends.

Dr. Areej Jaber, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, delivered a comprehensive hands-on presentation covering several smart tools and platforms that assist researchers, including:
• Mendeley for managing scientific references
• Connected Papers for building knowledge maps
• Claude.ai for summarization, paraphrasing, and scientific content analysis

She also addressed best practices in writing research proposals, tools for checking academic originality, and ethical guidelines for the use of AI in graduate-level research.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session, highlighting the importance of continuing such programs to strengthen postgraduate students’ research skills and enable them to keep pace with technological advancements in scientific inquiry.
